NEWS FLASH: New incarnation of Ancient Heart Magazine is alive
Bristol, 6 January 2008
An Editor’s FarewellEnd of an era? Indeed, Ancient Heart Magazine’s lifespan has come to an end. Due to all sorts of new demands on your editor’s time, he (that is me, I don’t usually speak about myself in the third person but never mind..) has had to relinquish the editorial duties involved in running this poetry magazine. It has been a joy and a privilege to receive submissions from new and upcoming poets from around the world, sift through the many wonderful poems, and publish the chosen ones that made it into the finished issue. A breakthrough for me personally was also to be able to provide the magazine in print. These print issues, as well as the Anthologies, will remain available from
http://stores.lulu.com/ancientheartmag My deepest thanks go out to all the many superb contributors who have graced the pages of this periodical over the years. Also, I will be forever grateful to Katherine L. Gordon, AHM’s resident columnist who has given me support and encouragement as well as regular copy.
Volume 5, Number 4, October 2007 was the final issue and is still availabe in print from
I have come to meet, albeit in a virtual way, many wonderful poets and publishers over the past years. Many of whom are true poets in the sense that, whatever else they find themselves impelled to do in their daily lives, their hearts are invariably in the poetic arts. They live to write and read poetry; to create that verbose fluttering of the innermost self that craves to be expressed using beauty’s own paraphernalia.
They are true Ancient Hearts..
Richard James van der Draaij,
Former Editor, Ancient Heart Magazine
